Introduction to Patchwork

Dip a toe into the exciting and colourful world of patchwork with this simple, but rewarding project.  In these days of ‘make do and mend’, patchwork is having a well-earned resurgence as a way of creating something beautiful from the smallest scraps of fabric!

During this workshop, you will learn how to use all the tools of the trade aswell as getting to grips with all those ‘ quilting terms’ and measurements that can seem so daunting. Once you are familiar with your equipment, you will  learn how to cut pattern pieces, how to construct your patchwork block ( design) and then how to finish your project with binding for that all important finish.

This brief introduction to patchwork is suitable for those already able to use a sewing machine unaided. If you would like to learn how to use a sewing machine then please take a look at our Sewing Taster Workshop

I enjoyed making a patchwork piece today, it was a bit of a challenge for me as I’m not a confident sewer or machinist but all the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Really want to sign up for the quilt one now!

I really enjoyed taking this class. The project was quite challenging but really worth the effort. Many thanks to Karen for her patience. I definitely will sign up for additional classes, and I strongly recommend this one.

I came to the Patchwork course with my mum. We both enjoyed the session and can’t quite believe how professional our cushions look! I’m now thinking about what my first project could be!

Amazing class!!! Really enjoyed it, and very impressed with the end result considering my lack of sewing skills. Very helpful instructor, Karen, who was very patient we me, and made a lovely cuppa!

I got this workshop for my Christmas present and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well paced and clearly instructed and I came away with a lovely cushion. More patchwork classes please!

I came home from this class and made another patchwork cushion straight away! Always knew its a good idea to not throw out scrap fabric, and now I have a cushion that ties all my other cushions in together!

Brilliant class! I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do this as I’m not very accurate but the instructions and handy templates enabled, even me, to make a fab cushion! This my be the start of a new addiction!!!!
