mysteries of your machine and how you can use it to create beautiful finishes and projects.

Overlockers are amazing machines that can really add a professional edge to your sewing projects but because they look more complicated than a standard sewing machine sewers are sometimes put off using them. This course is ideal to help anyone who wants to overcome their fear of using an overlocker or if you have recently bought a machine and just want a helping hand to understand how to set it up.

We will help you will learn and practice the following:

  • Component parts of your overlocker and what their function is
  • Differences between overlockers and standard sewing machines
  • Threading and re-threading your machine
  • Configurations and settings for different types of stitches/finishes including 3-thread overlock, 4-thread overlock and rolled hems
  • Setting and troubleshooting tension settings
  • What types of projects you can complete with your overlocker
  • To apply what you have learnt you will also be able to make an infinity scarf to take away with you.

Workshop Type



This course is based on your own overlocker so you will need to bring that with you to the session. Please also bring your overlocker manual, overlocker accessories including any screwdrivers and allen keys, power cord/foot and 4 cones of overlocker thread.

Fabric for the infinity scarf is not included in the price of this
course – you can view our range online or purchase from our shop on the day.

Fabric requirement: Width 38cm (15”) x length 150cm (60”).
Note that you can use 114cm (45”) length but your scarf will just be shorter!

With lots of natural light, large oak tables and inviting padded comfy seats our workshop is set to the rear of our Nottingham shop. It’s fully equipped with a large high cutting table and all the tools and machines you will need to make your class a success. It’s also a great space to hold group workshops such as hen parties, kids craft parties and baby showers.
